Chinese Visa in Bishkek

Yes, it is possible. althogh strange.
In order for you to get a Chinese visa in Bishkek you must show them that you are not trying to get to Kashgar (because of the problems there). what I did (and most other travellers) was to book a flight and accomodations in Beijing.
A flight is easily done with KyrgyzConcept, just tell them what you want, they will probably understand. the booking takes 5 minutes and they print you a confirmation you need to bring with you to the embassy.
Accomodation is booked either through a booking website (like hostelbookers.com) with a few dollars non-refundable deposit. or directly through a hostel like Leotsue or others. make sure you have a confirmation emailed to you, preferably something with a stamp.
At the Embassy: Get there as early as possible, preferably befor 7:30 and write your name down. that way you’ll get in when they finally open at 9:00. show them the bookings and when asked say you are going to Beijing and than wherever, just not Shin-Jiang, or Tibet.
Note: the Chinese visa says befor what date you need to cross. for example, I booked for the 14th and recieved a visa that says I must cross befor the 16th.
Good Luck.

Many thanks for a comprehensive account, yoyo.
How much did the visa cost?
