Uzbekistan visa

We got our Uzbek visas in Baku. we ordered the Letter Of Invitation (LOI) already in Tbilisi. the letter costs 35$ through stantours.com, note: in Tbilisi the bank will charge a commission rate of about 1/3 of the amount, for money transfer. in Baku we went to the Uzbek embassy (bus #3 next to Icheshehir Metro station, just ask the driver for: Uzbekistan consul). opening hours are 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-whenever he likes. the ambassador gave us a visa for different days than marked on the LOI, and also a wilde time in which to enter. just ask him. the visa fee can be payed only with his note in  central IBA bank, Nizami Kuchasi. take #3 bus back and walk down Nizami until you see it on your left. when you get back the process takes 15 minutes. the bank did not require our passports, so you can leave yours with the ambassador, and have the visa as soon as you get back. fee is 75$.

I find this LOI (invitation) thing so strange. We are in year of 2010. I think that this strange system should change. I applied for Uzbek transit visa, only because of this reason.
