Manigango: from the intersection take the road leading towards Dege (left if you’re facing the fork). it’s on the second floor of the first building, the one with the big balcony. beds 10-15RMB in 3 person rooms. the toilet is actually over the yard.
Dege: From the bus station intersection walk towards Manigango (up the river), on your right will be a police station and then 2 outdoor pool tables. the door between the pool tables and the welder’s shop leads up to a small hostel, 15RMB per bed, 3 beds per room. extremely clean and nice. a little noisy in the rooms facing the street.

There is a so called Youth hostel in town, 50 RMB. about 500m after the one above.

Baiyu: Just walk along the main street it’s full of hotels. we stayed at the one closest to the bus station (not the golden Yak). 15RMB, clean and nice.

Ganzi: address: Chuan Zang Lu 13. actually finding it: from the bus station turn left to the main intersection. take another left and curve with the road to the left. on your right side will be a few traditional two stories buildings. the hostel is the one with a welders shop on the 1st floor. nice (not very clean rooms) for 15RMB per person. Hamei, the kid who might ask you if you’re looking for a hostel in the streets, speaks a little
English and will write you endless messages on his cellular phone translation program.

Kangding: Zhilam hostel. from the Black Tent guesthouse climb up to Kangding hotel, trurn left and immidiately to the right. follow the path up to a new looking building. it’s incredibly clean and well organised. books exchange, free internet, DVD library and hot showers. the works. american staff. 35RMB.

Litang: Potala’s Inn: from the bus station turn right and immidiately left, it’s the big one with the sign. offers laundry 10RMB per Kilo, internet 4RMB per hour (they don’t really check), dorms for 20RMB. the staff is incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful. none but lady Potala speak English, some don’t speak Mandarin. the gates lock at night.

Peace Hotel: from the bus station turn right, it’ll be on your left (take the right hand street at the fork). the manager speaks good English and is very helpful. dorms for 20RMB.

Daocheng: there are plenty of places around town. most are Chinese tourists oriented. we stayed in a small 20-25RMB per person in a double room, with toilet and shower. from the bus station take a left, and enter the second alley. it’s dark. the hotel has a big courtyard, usually filled with minivans.

There is another nice option, similar conditions, just across from the bus station in the alley, it’s on the left and has a very large 2nd floor window showing Tibetan decorations.

Yading Park: Just under the first temple. it’s a shit hole made of spare wood and plastic, but it holds in the severe weather. they expect 30EMB per person, you can pay less.
